All done!

I did my seminar presentation today and it was... ok. I won't be sure how it went until I speak to my tutor tomorrow. I feel slightly disappointed - I don't think I presented the arguments as well as I think the argument deserved and well enough to represent the sheer amount of time I've put into this. However, I've learnt loads through doing this: how to organise a piece of work, how long it takes to write something, and that I need to be more confident of my argument if I want to present it well. We also had a fairly heated debate afterwards - gender is an issue which most people have some sort of opinion about.

And Matt and I are having a small celebration tonight - we started going out 5 years ago today! Good timing as I can finally enjoy having some time off. But only a little - my essay is due in in less than 9 weeks...

Bless you lady. I know the feeling. I found out on Sunday that I had an essay due in on Friday (had just got back from an sneeky week's holiday and am now pretty behind. Oddly, while I was away , one of the buildings at uni exploded so my lecturer's office has been sealed off incase of further projectiles has. He has extended the deadline to Monday because of this so that's a relief, but it doen't change the fact that I haven't a clue what to write and my bibliography will only be about two books long. Poo.
Have cancelled a weekend away with Chris and his mates because of the backlog of work... Ho, hum. Uni is fun...

But we did do that sort of thing when we were at uni... Stay up all night writing an essay and them not being that bad... I was wondering if we could do some sort of essay-swapping thing - I could email you my essays and you could email me yours and we could read them. I also thought, to make ourselves look good, we should organise some sort of academic conference. that is always impressive on an academic cv and would give us excuses to meet up...

Hmmm, good idea. Could we have a house reunion and call it a conference? That would kill two birds with one stone.

I'm up for essay swapping as long as you are kind to me about my lack of comprehension of the issues.

Talking of which, I went to our Speak meeting last night. Nathan, a nice boy from HQ, was there to explain the trade justice issues and I got on a mad rant or two about the global economic system. I almost watched in horror as phares such as 'if you conside Lukes' third dimension of power' slipped off my tounge.

What am I becoming.

I think I need my own blog...

Love you Sarah, keep up the good work.

(That comma reminds me of a prolonged debate regarding the punctuation in Emily's t-shirt - I'm not fat, I'm pregnant. We even called in our favourite linquistics specialist, Mr Marshall. Bless. Those undergrad days...)

Nathan's ace - I helped him set up his own SPEAK group many many years ago!

I do that too. Last Wednesday we were talking about the environment at Sanctus, my church, and I used the phrase "collective action problem". And I always, always want to analyse gender.

Essay swapping - ditto for the kindness! I've just been to see my tutor and my title is: 'The contribution of constructivism to understandings of states in international political economy: a critical analysis'. Give me a week and this will have its own blog topic - though may not get as much response as gender did...

If you're heading north over Christmas, it would be good to meet up. We could pretend it was to discuss work.

Yes, you should have your own blog, where you can rant about politics as much as you like...
